Let the paint corrections begin. I've got some scratches I want to deal with on my car, so I bought a DA and some polishing stuff. This video is NSFW, so don't play it at work

I hope you have more time then I do. I bought one, but by the time I wash/dry/clay I'm out of time.

I'm just going to dedicate a day to it. Probably next Sunday. I really only have one or two small spots where I'd need to do any more than a polish, so I don't think it'll eat up too much time.

What kind of polish/da?
I usually use a high speed buffer and a medium cut cleaner to kill scuffs and scratches.

Just the cheap harborfreight DA. Ordered a 5" backing plate, some lake county pads, and Meguiars M205 for polishing. I've got some Meg's wax and compound to use as well

Nice. I've been sold on Megs stuff for a long time.

Heads up, if you bought a regular DA "sander" instead of a polisher, it will turn too fast and burn your paint if you are not extremely careful. JIC you did not know this, if you did, sorry, carry on please.

It's a polisher

Ok good, just wanted to make sure you didn't come to grief trying to polish your car.
A DA sander turns about 10,000 rpm, while a DA polisher turns around 6000-6500 rpm, so you can see where the sander might damage the paint if repurposed to polishing duty.

But I thought sanding the paint was good for it...

It is if you are going to repaint. Sanding to polish is done with very fine paper and by hand.

I know, I was joking.
